Renovating your bathroom can be a lot of work, especially when it comes to tiling up to the cornice. New tiles are thicker, and quite often this results in the tiles sticking out from the cornice. You may not notice this at first, but once you do, you can’t unsee it!
The good news is there’s a simple fix: a ceiling tile trim.
Why Tiles Stick Out From the Cornice
New tiles manufactured today are thicker than what they used to be. While this enhances their durability, it also means that when they’re tiled up to an existing cornice or metal door frame, they stick out past it. This gives the whole job an unprofessional finish, no matter how good the tiling itself is.
Usually, this leaves you with one of a few options: leave the tiles sticking out and lose the clean line, or pay to have the cornice ripped down and reinstalled after tiling. Neither is a great option.

Saves You Time and Money
What usually happens during a bathroom renovation, when tiling up to the cornice, is that the existing cornice gets ripped off. It’s then put back up once tiling is finished to hide the tiles sticking out.
With a ceiling tile trim, there’s no need to rip out the existing cornice at all. Simply install the trim first, tile up to it, and you’re done. That means no time lost removing and reinstalling a cornice, and no extra labour cost for doing so.
Not to mention that the cornice cement used to secure cornices to ceilings doesn’t actually adhere to tiles. This results in the cornice falling down at a later stage. We’ve encountered this many times.
Easy to Install
All our products are designed to be DIY-friendly, and both trims are no exception. There’s no special tools or expertise needed – just measure the length of the cornice or door frame, cut the trim to fit, and install. We recommend a quick-grab construction adhesive, or liquid nails, to fix it in place.
