Using Our Cornices for Your Home

minimalistic living room with beautiful cornices

Decorating a home is an art, and every detail matters – right down to the cornices. At Authentic Additions, we believe that the beauty of a home lies in its details, and our collection of cornices is designed to add that touch of elegance and refinement to any space.

The Timeless Appeal of Cornices

Cornices, the decorative molding that transitions between the walls and ceiling, are more than just architectural elements; they are a statement of style. Whether you prefer a modern minimalist look or a grand traditional aesthetic, our range of cornices at caters to every taste.

Function Meets Aesthetics

Our cornice addition being fitted onto existing plain cornice

Our cornice additions were designed to fit on your existing plain cornices to permanently conceal the ugly cracking from the natural movements of the foundation. This helps elevate the aesthetics of your home while saving you money and time from the constant maintenance required if you were to fill in the cracking every time it surfaces.

We also designed a larger range for customers that have plain cornices and wish to upgrade and transform the look of their home with something more ornate and larger in design.

One of the beauties of our cornices is how versatile they are. Because they’ve been designed with a rebate behind them, you can install them on both top (on the ceiling) and bottom (on the wall) of your existing cornices. We recommend using a larger profile on the ceiling and a smaller design on the wall.

We often get asked which cornice additions we recommend – this depends on several variables in the space that you’re looking to transform. However, here’s a few tips to help you with your decision:

The Size of the Room Matters

Our Cornices, Allegra (CA 06) on the top and Vitaria (CA 05) on the bottom.

If you’re installing our cornice additions to the bottom only of the existing cornice, we would recommend a smaller cornice like the Athena (CA 01), Kerala (CA 02) or Sienna (CA 08).

If you have a small room and would like our cornice additions both top and bottom, a perfect configuration would be to use our Verona (CA 03) or Roma (CA 04) with one of our 3 smaller profiles as this combination helps to tie the room together without making it seem smaller.

When doing the top and bottom of the cornices for bigger rooms or larger open spaces, our Vitaria (CA 05), Allegra (CA 06) or Bahia (CA 07) look amazing when installed on the top of cornices and give your home a beautiful, clean, refined look.

How Ornate is the Room?

When choosing a cornice, think about the other fixtures that you have in the room. For example, if you have ceiling roses in them you may want to go with a plainer cornice so that the focus of the room will be on your ceiling roses. Whereas if you have a plain room, you can select a more ornate cornice to spice things up.

At the end of the day, it is YOUR home, and you should choose the designs that you love most. With the Authentic Additions range of cornices, door frames and ceiling roses, we’re sure that you will find something that fits your style.
